You Don’t Need to Have All the Answers 💡

This week I wanted to talk about something I struggle with a lot – making decisions.

Let me explain… As an introvert, I tend to be analytical and constantly inside my head. I like to think things through before making a decision and I want to be sure that my decisions are the right ones.

In addition to being an introvert, I am also very conscientious. I take my time to think things through and analyze the pros and cons of every situation.

Does that sound like you?

This tendency for introspection can be a double-edged sword.

On one hand, it helps me make informed decisions that benefit me in the long run. On the other, it prevents me from taking risks or making any decisions at all because I want to make sure everything is perfect.

To make things worse, when I decide something, I'm so afraid of making a mistake that I often second-guess my choices. This can lead to even more confusion and overwhelm.

And as I'm sure you know, there never is a perfect decision.

There are only decisions we make and then live with the consequences. And that's okay.

You don't need to have all the answers. You're allowed to not know everything; it's called learning and growing. Just be open-minded and give yourself permission to experiment, take risks, make mistakes, and accept your mistakes as part of the process.

I don’t think I’m the only one who feels this way.

Life is full of decisions — from big ones like deciding on a major or a career path to small ones like choosing what to wear or where to eat.

All decisions shape who we are and how we grow.

But what's more important to remember is that it's not the wrong decisions or mistakes that define us, but rather how we choose to learn from them.

If a decision or life choice did not turn out well, you just need to adjust.

That's where the saying when "life throws you lemons, make lemonade" comes in — take the opportunity to learn and grow from your mistakes.

You don't keep doing the same thing over and over again knowing it's not working.

This week, think about the decisions you’ve made and the ones you’re about to make.

What can you do differently? What have you learned? How can you use this knowledge to improve your life?

It's important that we take care of ourselves mentally, emotionally, and physically. And part of that is learning to be more accepting of our mistakes, to trust ourselves and our decisions.

One of the biggest challenges as an introvert is learning to set boundaries at work. It can be easy to get caught up in people-pleasing or taking on more than we can handle, but it's crucial for our mental well-being to establish clear boundaries. I mentioned last week that I recently got promoted at work. That means a new boss. This new boss, let's call her Wendy, is the exact opposite of me. She talks fast, loud, and a lot. Her go-to phrase in the short months I've been her direct report is...
